  2. Either you had an empty plate brought to you or you have finally snapped?!

    What was lunch?

  3. After dinner last night am beginning to worry that Stockholm symdrome has truly set in... and now a clean plate, have they rumbled you and decided to reform their practises? at least until you leave their care, or have you done what any public schoolboy has had to and developed a cast-iron digestive system to cope??

  6. Where's the before picture??? If it was that good we have to know what it is!!!! Great to know you're getting something good though TM. Get well soon.

I'm still astonished that they seem to combine all meal options together (low salt, diabetic, soft, flavourless), where I work they seem to be able to make different things (or maybe they just put the normal food in the blender) but at least those on a normal diet get whole food. That lamb pie the other day looked truly awful - the tinned food my dog gets looks far more palatable.

The patients where I work got the choice of meat pies the other day - the ones that got them seemed pretty happy and they looked and smelt exactly how a good Aussie meat pie should - the only problem was that those on "small" portion size (patients can choose that) got 1 or 2 mini pies - and I mean MINI - the smallest mouth would easily get these down in one go!

I was hanging out with some of the oldies on the ward for breakfast this morning - they love coming because at least they can make their own fresh toast cooked, buttered & spread put on the way they like - and I was telling them about your situation and tendency to get half a plate of dead - sorry cooked - vegetables. They all agreed they would also go hungry - and they don't seem to have the most discernible tastes!

  7. My guess is that there was a pannini and salad on the plate to start with - what's left are the remnants of the lettuce.

  8. I was so hungry I simply fell upon the food and devoured it without even stopping to catch my breath. Yes it was a panini but what you don't realise is that a panini has texture, taste and green stuff at the side that's till crunchy and identifiable. I couldn't help myself. There simply wasn't time to take a photo. If you really want a picture I can post an almost identical shot I took last week. By the time I'd realised that hadn't photographed my lunch, this was all that was left to photograph. Sorry.

  9. I'm happier knowing your meal was so appetising there was no time for a photo. I'm familiar with the panini & salad!

  10. Oh dear! THis is getting serious! If you are so hungry that you can't take a photo for the blog there are major issues here.

OK. So we know there are major issues but this is the first time we have had a photo of an empty plate before the before!

    Long live the panini!!!

The little wheelchair has always been there - I don't know what it does & hadn't tried to click it until now - and my browser just quit so I wont be trying again! My guess is that it's a 'universal' setting perhaps for those that can't read the word and rely on their computer to read any content for them.

  12. This is great, you don't get rid of us that easily. We will all be tuning in again later to see if the regular kitchen staff are back on duty!

It's lovely though that you ate it and without thinking.

  13. Good afternoon TM

Sorry for checking in late but things in my way - work (necessary), boss (challenging), dentist (expensive) - and I missed lunch - or not!

The main problem with mass catering seems to me threefold - those patients who can feed themselves and those who cannot and those with challenges (ie teeth) - not for one minute suggesting that the menu for those who cannot should be of lesser quality - just adapted accordingly.

Ho hum and back to work!

  15. I didn't want the kitchen to think they'd got full marks. Nothing is perfect in this world.
