Is it Sunday again already?

Er...no peas? No gravy? Shurely shome mishtake!

There's meat there somewhere even if it does taste like carpet underlay

A serious custard shortage by the looks of things

  1. No soup? Did all the leftovers go? For the main course - some sort of escalope but without the juices that are supposed to be preserved by the coating. As to the potato? dish with a phallic symbol in the middle - I don't even want to go there! Pudding - a bit of cream might have made a nice change with the Swiss roll (if that's what it is). I do hope you have some supplies left.

  2. TM - not so sure about your 'Donate' button to be honest - that's really going to work against you and your worthwhile cause if anything is, simply because it could be made to look like you are only doing this blog for money.

You know full well what politicians are like - let 'em find a crack and they'll use it against you.

I strongly suggest ditching the Donate button.

  3. Oh dear, well at least the rubber stuff under the Heston Blumenthal style coating is white this week, and not pink as last week, has a week really gone by so quickly TM.

No peas, what is going on, I do like to see your daily helping of the green things, if only to amaze myself at how many times they are served to all.

    Who ate all the CUSTARD.

Lets all sing along to "Who let the troll out!!".

  4. Donate buttons are quite common on blogs for various reasons. There are certain costs involved in me running the blog from hospital... mobile broadband being one of them.

Bear in mind that I haven't been able to work Or earn any money since February yet I still have living costs. Could you manage that long without an income? My wife still has to pay for the train journey each week and she brings me food and treats to keep me sane. You don't have to donate if you don't want to but some people like to give something back in return for the enjoyment I may have given them.

Finally I couldn't give a flying **** what any politician thinks. I'll take no lectures about financial probity from a bunch of expense fiddling crooks who have been spending my taxes on duck houses and
    moat clearing.

  5. It's very scary looking at that meal (?) on a 20" monitor - it's the stuff that nightmares are made of!

  6. I have nothing against you earning a few quid, my concern is that others could well use it against you and your worthy cause.

    That is all.

  7. I appreciate your concern but I don't know of any campaign that doesn't rely on donations, so I don't believe it will be a problem. That said, what do other readers of the blog think. Should I take ythe donate button down?

  8. Keep it up! I have donated and will do so again when payday comes. I appreciate your predicament and totally agree with you on politicians, most of which (whom?) live in a completely different world.

  9. do they make you say grace?

keep your donate button. Mr Susan has donated in thanks that not all his meals look like yours.

you are quite right - you have expenses and no doubt when you are released into the real world these expenses will continue but I think that the photo of the mass mess Turner prize could be a winner - as I've said before - think place mats, aprons, tea towels, tee shirts etc. Can anyone get this going for you?

  10. Is jam-roly-poly the only choice of desert?

I've seen a square of sponge on odd occasions, but seriously - if you still have your own teeth by Christmas I'll be impressed.

  11. As the puddings are inedible, my teeth are quite safe. The other choices are Muller Light Aspartame yogurt, melted vanilla ice cream or melted strawberry ice cream. Sometimes there's a fruit option of banana, satsuma or apple. Oh... Nearly forgot the fruit jelly. I ordered that once and it was actually liquid.

  13. That white dollop looks like a fugus I saw growing on a tree stump the other day.
Keep your donate button. No one is being forced to donate.

    ReplyDelete
  14. How DID they manage to do that to the spud? It looks as though it was extruded from a mastic gun.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mastic would have had more flavour!

  16. I see no difference between that mash and the stuff puporting to be lemon pudding lurking under the custard the other day - shouldn't imagine the taste was much different either....

No probs with the "donate" button - will be using it asap.

Ha! verification is "ae cur" now wonder who that refers to......
I'm going to make a quiche now for my menfolk... sorry!

  17. Looks like the donate button is attracting more donations thanks to the respondent who was not in favour.... well done! The power of negative publicity or responses...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Definitely keep the 'donate' button. If folk enjoy the blog as much as I do and are willing to donate some dosh then I can't see a problem.

No peas or custard to speak of...I wonder what's going on.

  19. *shudder* God - it just keeps getting worse!! What happened to your Sunday roast...... you know I'm using that terms loosely! I'd say 'complain' but that's likely to land you some suspect lumpy cold porridge for brekkie - or, God forbid, warm milk with a skin on top for your cereal!

Any word on your possible escape in the VERY near future? Apologies if I've missed it on earlier instalments - kids are off school now and I'm on hol from work - so time escapes me more than usual! :o)

And as for the Donate button - leave it alone! Sentiment understood from others I'm sure, but there's no forcing you to donate!! I must've been reading this for 3 weeks before I even noticed it.

    Take care TM :o)

  20. Yes leave your button alone ....

Just hoping that 'belly' ad doesn't come up now :o)

  22. Now I wonder why this clip on the BBC news website made me think of you and your food predicament?

  23. Leave the donate button up. I have only shirt buttons with which to keep myself in gruel, currently, but that will soon change.

Who cares what other people may think, particularly politicians who've been rootling their snouts about in the public purse for quite long enough, thanks very much.

  24. Hi TM!
This schnitzel looks quite ok to me - was it turkey? And was it crunchy? I'm surprised by the carrots and potato mash. Here where I live a schnitzel is standard Sunday fare and it comes with rice or potato salad (no mayonnaise! but chopped onions, vinegar and pumpkin seed oil and salt and pepper of course). Think yourself lucky they did not drown it in gravy! Gravy shouldn't go with dishes that don't produce it during cooking, so Austrians (and maybe other central Europeans as well) would be quite astonished about its apparition next to a schnitzel (and its crust would get soaked).
As for the dessert: maybe next time they will omit that custard altogether - small step for them, big step for dessert diversity ...
    Please keep your donate button!!
    Best wishes from Styria! Barbara

  25. The meat in the schnitzel (or escalope as they prefer to call it here) was 3mm tick. Now I know some chefs tenderise meat my hitting it with a hammer. The NHS tenderise their meat by running over it with a steam roller. And as for breadcrumbs being crispy... this is a special soggy style breadcrumb coating.

  26. I'm with the others on this - leave the donate button where it is. Who cares what the politicians think? They don't give a f*ck about what we think.

BTW, that meal looks absolutely god awful. A good contender for being one of the worst. What's with everything in breadcrumbs anyway? And always shaped like kiddie food! Ensure again or do you still have Mrs TMs goodie bag to delve into?

  29. TM.... I have a question and I hope you can answer it.

I do not use any type of credit card, can I donate using a cheque. I live in Crete so there is no chance I could stalk you or anyone, do you have a PO box number or something I could send a cheque to ??

  30. Bless you, Ness. I dont know how easy it would be to bank a cheque drawn on a Greek bank so how about we do this? Choose your favourite restaurant/taverna and go out for a nice meal with the donation you would have sent. During the evening raise a glass to wish this damn leg of mine to get better. I'd really like that. The thought of someone sending good vibes from beautiful Crete couldn't fail to make my leg feel better. Xxx

  31. I think there is a facility called PayPal Cheque- check it out. Although I like the idea of a glass raised in Greece to TM's health.

  32. TM... I have a proper H.S.B.C cheque book you know.

Lol... i have a couple of beers each night and drink to your speedy recovery TM.

To find a decent taverna where I live ( Fodele bay ),I got more chance of peeing in the Queens handbag.....But thank you for your kind words, believe me you get better meals where you are.

I have been living here for three years and I have yet to find a decent taverna with decent food, and believe me I have been to very many eateries here.

Chips with everything, undercooked or over cooked meat, damn cheese pasties , scraggy lamb ( more meat on a sparrows leg )and more bloody salad and cheese than you can shake a stick at.

There is one place that makes a mean Stiffado to die for, but I think the cook ran off with the village donkey a few months ago.

This is a laugh for you. When we first moved here, you couldn`t find a spud masher for love or money, they don`t use them here . I went to the local hardware store, asked the assistant did she have a spud masher and did the motions of mashing spuds while saying " patates ", she said "one moment please ", noise in the back of the shop, clatter and a big sigh, she then hands me a 2 lb hammer...!!!!

Walking through Carefoure the other day I spotted loads of spud mashers, they must have listened to me when I explained what one was and that the ex- pat`s use them a lot.

TM... seriously now.... I can send a donation HSBC cheque to you, just give me an address to post one to you please, all address details will be deleted.
