Stress

As you can imagine, it's been a stressful afternoon and evening. I can't imagine why a broken leg should take eight months to heal, but there we are. Now I'm told I may not recover quite as quickly as I was lead to believe. Fortunately I've de-stressed with this little prayer I found on one of my favourite blogs.

A Prayer for the Stressed

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill today because they got on my nerves

Help me to be careful of the toes I step on as these may be connected to the feet I have to kiss tomorrow.

And help me to remember – when I am having a bad day and it seems that people are trying to wind me up – it takes 42 muscles to frown, 28 to smile and only 4 to extend my arm and smack someone in the mouth.

Amen

  5. I've just taken my tablets for a good night's sleep so before I nod off I wanted to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you who have sent messages of support via the blog or my email address. I'm more touched than you will ever know. You have given me the support I needed to keep sane and that is priceless. I will get better and walk again for myself but also for all of you. I feel so lucky to have come into contact with so many kind and thoughtful people from all around the world. I'm looking forward to being able to give you some good news tomorrow .

    Goodnight.

  6. A prayer that I used to pray when I lived in Palestine and ate food aid from Hungary on a good day..
    'Lord I'll eat it down,
    you keep it down'.
    Amen.

God bless TM and Mrs TM.

  7. Amen to that prayer!

You will be in our thoughts and prayers as the surgeons see what is happening and make decisions on your future.

Best of luck to you for that. I sincerely hope the news is good.

  11. I"m so impressed with your sense of humour TM!! So glad it hasn't deserted you after the trials you've been through of late.

Hoping that the outcome of tomorrow's (? now today's) investigations is a positive one for you and that you can start to climb that long, gently-sloping, road to recovery.

Soon you'll be so independent you'll never have to eat another foul NHS meal again!! woot woot :)

And I have no doubt there will be a special feast waiting to cheer you up later (with peas AND custard if you're really good).

  23. You're a good strong man. My prayers are with you.

    From the Desiderata

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
    no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

    Take care

  24. A note for when you come round from the rubber hammer - it's 10.42 now so you're either on the table, in recovery, or back in bed coming round.

As for you taking eight months to heal, I'm not a bit surprised, since you've mostly been fed muck. Anyway I won't rant just yet. I just wanted to peel you a grape, or give you a few slivers of ice to suck if you're not quite on full rations yet, or just plump your pillows. Thinking of Mrs TM too, who must find it so difficult not able to be there when she wants to be there. (Specialist centres .... GRRRRRRRRRR)

Will drop by in a while to hear the news and jostle for a seat in the ranks of chairs for all your virtual visitors :-)

Oh and here's a sweet little message for the management ...

GIVE THE MAN PROPER NUTRITIOUS FOOD AND HE'LL MEND QUICKER, YOU IDIOTS.

    I thank you.
