  2. When they do have to remove the taped bandage pieces you will probably loose some hairs, ouch, but I reckon they will grow again, and it won't take as long as the mending of your bone and most importantly you won't have to spend that time in a NHS full board situation .. Cheers for your ongoing recovery! Barbara

  3. So are you allowed to sleep on our side? I'll bet you've been looking forward to that!

  4. I tried going on my side but it's such a cumbersome cast I think I may have trouble.

  6. No. Apparently they could be sold into third world countries for reuse and the whole CJD problem comes alive again. Even the surgeons must not take the pins off the hospital premises. I didn't ask for it anyway as I never want to see it again.

  8. I bet it is such a relief getting that cumbersome pin out TM, won`t be long now until you get out, think positive as the only way is forward and up now.

  9. WOW! How different does it feel not having the pin in place?
When I had my last knee surgery I was in a full length splint for 7 weeks! wasn't allowed to bend my knee at all for 2 weeks!!! Sleeping was a bit of an issue so you have my sympathy still with the brace.

As for the food, what on earth was the main course? whatever it was supposed to be it looked like something was fungating! YUCK! Not exacty what you wanted to see when you woke up.

So, we need a new name for Traction Man now he is no longer in traction. What can we call you?

Oh, when the plasters come off the pin sites, you will get an idea of how it feels when us girls get waxed!!!! Enjoy! LOL!

  12. Hey Ex-TM
Having had my leg in a cast before, if you want to try sleeping on your side, have your bad leg go on top. ie roll onto your right, but put a ton of pillows underneath it to support it and stop it dropping to the bed. Getting extra pillows on the nhs isn't easy so Mrs Ex-TM may have to bring some in. (rememeber to get her to put them into brightly coloured / patterned pillow cases so the hospital doesn't think they belong to them!)

  13. I kept my pin - but that was before the days of elf and safety!

Looking good - you will feel unbalanced for a while. Was your bed slightly tipped back?

  14. I'm absolutely shattered. Will try to answer later. Anaesthetic has suddenly hit me. Sorry.

  15. Looking Good TM!!! Congrats on the pin removal! Shame you couldn't keep it tho, you could have raised a mint on Ebay!! :-D
I kept screws from an ankle op, so I officially have loose screws now!!! WoopWoop!

hope you recovery continues in an upward motion!!

  16. I bet you felt as though this stage would never arrive. We are all thrilled to bits for you.
Hopefully before the end of the week you will be feeling a bit better. Best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

  17. From personal experience, I can say that Lulu's advice is excellent. If you haven't had an op on a leg, you just don't realise how we take turning over in bed or sleeping on one's side for granted.

Hope you feel better after the latest rest!

  18. Oi! Who clicked the 'Disgusting' button? Were you referring to me or my injuries? Step outside if you want a fight... although it might take me a while to get there :-)
