  1. Like we said XTM, we're here for you and not the other way round. Take it slow and we'll keep an eye out for when you're up to it.

Sleep, let the pain killers do their job, and take care of yourself. We're not going anywhere :-)

It's bound to be hell for a while as you get used to the physio and the pain kicks in. One rep at a time.

    Talkatcha later

  2. Sorry to hear that XTM. Hope it eases soon and look forward to hearing from you when you feel up to it.

At least we all know you will be getting plenty of tasty comfort food to speed on your way to feeling better!

  4. Probably the physio creating new pains, or at least I hope so... but at least Mrs XTM isn't likely to serve you up hospital food so there is a light on the horizon.

  5. Don't apologise! Physio can be hell, and you have bits moving there that haven't moved in a long time, without 24-hour instant pain relief available. Hope you feel better soon!

  12. Oh XTM, I hope it is "just" your muscles that have still to get used to working again, and not another bug in your bones!! Think of it, you've got training to do like a Olympic sportsman! Udgrading from near nil to normal is probably even more strenuous than uppering from normal to world champion. I guess, it is most difficult at the beginning. Maybe you could do your training in an indoor pool? As the muscles would have to do less work, because the body feels lighter inside the water. Preferably warm water I'd suggest, to prevent you catching a cold. I'd also think that there should be some rehab centres somewhere fitted with conraptions that can lift you into the pool and out again. Only thing I don't know if they'd have more crap food there ... or if the NHS pays for them at all?!
Very many good wishes from Styria! Barbara

  16. Sorry to hear that XTM - but like everyone else has said, take care of yourself and don't stress at all about posting on the blog, we completely understand.

    Big hug.

  17. Just take the time you need to get yourself good and well so you can start on the campaign to do something about hospital 'food'.

    All best wishes.

  19. Being home is really hard work - even if you've been in hospital and mobile, nevermind what you've been through. And all the excitement of coming home as well.

Keeping fingers crossed that days like this are few and far between and that you'll be dancing the new year in!

  20. okay ... the word verification for my last post was "pulture" - doesn't that sound like something they used to give you to eat???

  24. Hope it resides soon. Pain isn't nice but hopefully as the physio goes on and gets easier the pain will get less. One day you'll realise you're not in any pain at all!

  25. You owe NO-ONE an apology, mate.

Physio is a very difficult process - you've got to learn how to do something you took for granted all over again, only this time you've got pain, frustration and probably a well-developed temper to contend with.

If it does make you feel any better, I told my wife last night that I was still following your blog (she initially showed it to me all those weeks ago) and that you were home and enjoying your wife's cooking. She was very pleased for you, as am I.

    Wishing you all the best.

  30. So sorry to hear you are struggling today. This will happen. You will have good days and bad days. The good days you have to learn to pace yourself and on the bad days, remember, things could be worse. At least you are at home and able to have a bad day without the food being awful and making it even worse!

I do hope tomorrow is better. Take care

  31. Be patient, be like a baby one tiny step at a time, learning to walk again is hard work, this was the advice given to me, after nearly 6 months in a wheelchair, it is painful, but oh so rewarding when you take that first step, it feels as if you have climbed Everest, then you suffer, then you try again, you then repeat it again and again until one day you have a eureka moment and can walk with just the aid of a stick (useful for playing swords)
so my heart is with you and I can almost feel the pain again, but you will get there, and hopefully when the plaster is taken off, some pool therepy will hasten your recovery.

Just a small tip that might help, if Mrs ex TM could gently massage your legs with baby oil, for some unknown reason it helps to ease the pain.

  32. Hope you feel better tomorrow. At least you should hopefully be getting more sleep now you are out of hospital, which should speed up the healing process.

  41. XTM, I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain today. Disregard my jovial email..it doesn't seem appropriate now.

I do hope the meds take the edge off the serious pain you are experiencing today XTM...and may you wake to a pain free day tommorrow.

I think the best part of being out of hospital, after not having to eat the food, is the fact that you can get some peaceful sleep whenever you need it! Feel better soon.
