  2. My feet were so swollen from the physio but I have them elevated and the pain isn't too bad. Perhaps the sausages have healing properties and a million miles away from those vile non-meat NHS sausages with the synthetic onion gravy, unbuttered mash etc.

  3. Good day to you dear XTM.... Ahhh... you are a lover of the Sausage then... so here's a link to a handmade Sausage from Yorkshire http://www.wholehogsausage.co.uk/ the Hog Sausage is in my humble opinion the best hand made British sausage I have ever tasted... try them... you'll be hooked.

  4. These sausages look great and the link looked interesting. I'll go back and read more about them later. This food is a million miles from the other stuff you were showing us. I love kale and have been cooking it this weekend myself. Wishing you well with the physio. I hope the pain diminishes soon.

  6. The physio was tough but I could feel it doing me some good. It's a lot easier if someone is motivating you and helping to count the seconds and the repetitions.

  7. Excellent, XTM. Being home among loved ones and friends is a sure way to get your motivation up and running, fuelled by excellent food, care and attention, and support. All the things missing from a Centre of Excellence and its (cough cough) food.

I know the medical and nursing teams are excellent in the NHS but Centres of Excellence deprive patients of the very things they need to thrive.

I'm so glad you're on the mend, and so glad that you are on the mend, albeit slowly and painfully. Things will get better, they really will. You're through the worst of it now and soon you will realise that the pain is diminishing, you're becoming more mobile, and life will be sweet again.

Big hugs to you and Mrs XTM. What a team :-)

  10. WOW XTM! Those sausages look fab! We like sausages here but usually end up with pretty grim gluten free ones for my coeliac child while the rest of us tuck in to very nice ones. These are GF and look fabulous! Thanks for sharing the link with us. They may just end up getting some mail order business! I don't know why people think that GF means taste and textureless!!! The bread is bad enough!

Anyway, well done for doing the physio. It is hard making yourself do the physio when it hurts but it will be worth it! Honest! My last surgery was not a patch on what you went through but 7 weeks of not being able to bend my knee took a lot of work to make better! You will survive and things will get easier. Honest.

  12. Did we come to this world only to eat? :)

  13. Those sausages are fab. We don't buy them because they're GF... We buy them because they're the tastiest. Thanks for the encouragement I really need it; especially when the black dog shows up!

  14. We did not come into this world only to eat. However I would strongly advise that you keep eating if you want to stay in this world. All in moderation, of course :-)

  15. XTM - if I have some of your drugs my posts will be even more cock-eyed. I daren't risk it.

Can I ask Mrs XTM to start a recipe blog too? those meals look brilliant

  18. The good food must be making your body feel so much better X-Man, all that nutrition, plus you are happy to eat it, the hospital food, eating was its own chore, now you look forward to meals.

  19. Hmm, those sausages look yummy, I think I'll get out of bed (hernia) and have some myself. Good to read that you're on the mend, XTM. Good idea, a recipe blog!

  20. I'm curious as to what is kale? Some kind of leaves; but of what plant?
Spontenously I these leaf-vegetables come to my mind:
spinach, swiss chards, dandelion, rucola, birds' salad, spring onion, parsley, nettle, wild garlic.
    Best wishes!

  22. I am a hot meals server for our Pirmary School (North Cotes in Lincolnshire) we have our meals shipped in.

We use plastic plates and bowls with proper cutlery,(these are taken and washed by the caterer) but it does amaze both myself and the teaching staff who help out that lots of the children, not just the reception can't use a knife and fork properly.
