Nil by mouth.

It's coming up to the witching hour after which no more water. I was so sleepy I thought I'd just drop off without any problem. Now I'm sat here in the twilight of the ward with the soft footsteps of nurses padding up and down the corridor while mad old biddies press their buzzers every few minutes. I'd forgotten how much fun ward life could be. Nurse! More drugs please...

  1. I hope that the surgery goes well and that you don't have to endure too much hospital food, although I have to admit it is interesting to see the rubbish that they expect patients to eat and return to good health on.

  2. I'm in much better health than when I was last here so I can afford to skip meals. The older and trailer patients aren't so lucky.

  3. Urgh. That time between sleep and waking when you're hungry and thirsty but can't do anything about either. I remember it with fear and loathing.

    Good luck chap.

  4. Wishing you a very speedy recovery and a good outcome from your surgery. Must say the 'food' (and I use the term loosely) does not seem to have improved any in your absence.

  5. Hugs and thinking of you traction man...

I have surgery here in Australia next tuesday to get my thyroid removed .. :(

IF they even feed me at all I will try to take photo's with my camera phone thingy LOL and send them to you for comparison... being throat surgery not sure what they will even offer me and think they will kick me out after 2 days anyhow :(

Take care and know we are all thinking of you.

  6. All the very best for the op!! Insomnia is horrible at the best of times, but sans food and drink? Ugh.

  7. I trust that surgery went well for you and that things with the leg are vastly improved soon.

Last time I had surgery I had no problem sleeping the night before as I was at a friend's house and we consumed a few drinks before I had to be nil by mouth. That was with the nice meal! Sorry! Shame it wasn't possible for you!

    Recover well.
