The date is set

I heard today that I'm going to have a femoral osteotomy on May 21st. In other words, the doctors are going to break my leg and then reconstruct it before sticking it together with a metal plate and screws. It's sooner than I expected and brings my operations over the past 12 months or so to a round dozen. I'm really hoping this is the last one. I'm going to take my laptop into hospital with me so I can keep you posted.

  2. Calcium. magnesium and Vit D3 build healthy bones. Have they tested your blood level of Vit D3 at all?

  3. Yes... I'm taking all those. Vit D level of around 60 and bones show very solid on x-ray. No sign of infection. Now is as good a time as any.

    Hi XTM,
Good you don't have to wait too long, and it sounds pretty positive, so come the 21st we will all be thinking of you for sure and ready to be regaled.
    Best wishes,
    Chris in Melbourne.

  7. Good luck, TM. Would you like to borrow a net connection again? Also, would you like to see an iPad sometime soon?

  12. Thanks to you all. I'm not looking forward to this one but if it gets me walking again it has to be worth it. Shame as my huge scar is only just beginning to heal. This is going to play havoc with my career as a bikini model!

    Morning ETM

That all sounds quite gruesome but I guess necessary - you will make the machine go ping at the airport on your way to Portugal, then you can explain the plate and pins and watch the security staff squirm! Plus it makes my Ablation and something on a vein with a probe look very dull!

Still, it's shame about the Bikini modelling - the sports store on the King's Road has their new collection in.

    Happy Hump Day,
    Cats' Mother x

  14. Bikini modelling with scars ! No problem sounds perfect to me for BBC3. Bet you get more interest in that as a programme idea than hospital food.

    Look forward to viewing xx

  17. Good luck XTM! I really hope it all goes without a hitch.

I was offered a tibial osteotomy a few years ago for cosmetic reasons and refused! DIdn't fancy that level of intervention on purely cosmetic grounds. I also feel your pain.

Keep us in touch with your progress!

  18. Good luck on the surgery, TM. Please, stock up on some baskets of food to take with you though. I'm sure even dehydrated survivalist food would be better than what you were getting last time.

  19. After today's fiasco the NHS might not even exist by 21st May!!! I wonder if Tory/Lib Dem food will be any better than the "Brown" sludge?

Best of luck, our thoughts are with you.
