isnt this such a much more prettier view than what you had in the hospital. Keep warm and keep safe.
I opened my front door this morning and, instead of traffic noise, there was the sound of children laughing
I know which I'd prefer!
desperately need a care package of snow to Perth, Aus. It's been stinking hot here lately.
Global warming? What a crock!!! It snowed in Texas this year!!!
Could Perth export some of that heat? I'm freezing! -21C this morning!Love the flowers. One year I had one snapdragon plant stay in bloom the entire winter, throughout the snow, frost and frigid deepfreeze! I don't think it was frozen in place because we do get chinooks (the weather system that moved in and made the 1988 Olympics here the warmest Winter games ever--the snow had melted!)I love the stone bridge--so picturesque and peaceful.Take care (like you were planning on bungee jumping today! hmm I wonder if that would stretch the shorter leg?)Libby in snowy Calgary (it's warmed up-now -20C)
Pedants will say it's climate change, not necessarily global warming!Anyway, I agree about the lovely quiet morning. Around midday I crunched down to the village shop wearing my big boots while my son and friend were building a snowman with buttons for eyes (as coal not available). I am just about to put a warming curry on and snuggle up on the sofa.
You could be right but I find it odd that for some years 'scientist' referred to global warming and then when things didn't hot up enough they started talking of climate change. I should add that I'm a very sceptical individual.
Talking of climate change, this was passed to me in my email, made me laugh at the hypocrisy of it all.Tale of Two HousesHouse #1A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas, over $2400 per month. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern 'snow belt' area.. It's in the South.________________________________House #2Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every 'green' feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.~~~~~HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville , Tennessee ;It is the abode of the 'Environmentalist' Al Gore.HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford , Texas ; It is the residence of the Ex-President of the United States , George W. Bush.An 'inconvenient truth.'
So THAT'S what that "Winter Wonderland" song is going on about. Very nice!
WINTER WONDERLAND Music & Original Lyrics by F.Bernard & R.B.Smith 1934Lacy things, the wife is missingDidn’t ask her permissionI’m wearing her clothesHer silk panty hoseWalking round in women’s underwearIn the store there’s a teddyLittle strings, like spaghettiIt holds me so tightLike handcuffs at nightWalking round in women’s underwearIn the office there’s a guy called Melvin. He pretends that I am Murphy Brown. He’ll say ‘Are you ready?’ I say ‘Whoa Man’‘Let’s wait until our wives are out of town’Later on, if you wannaWe can dress like MadonnaPut on some eye shadeAnd join the paradeWalking round in women’s underwearLacy things, the wife is missingDidn’t ask her permissionI’m wearing her clothesHer silk panty hoseWalking round in women’s underwear
Morning XTM.Just doesnt that look great.Your fire would be comforting and nice in that weather.Over here and in NZ we get to the ski fields, but never personally have I been anywhere where its been snowing and white like that in the town. This afternoon in Melbourne its about 26-27c,clear blue sky with temp rising to the 40's over the next few days. It's our turn,Perth's going a bit cooler ( mid 30's )We didn't need to stay awake on New Years eve to look out at the fireworks, as we had electrical storms from around 10pm. Natures own show!Regards,Chris, Melbourne OZ
Lovely! It has been white here since the snow started on 17th December! Don't think temperatures have come much above freezing since then at all!Kids disappointed as the schools here are OPEN! Main roads are not a problem but our little street is hard packed ice. Lovely! Thank goodness for central heating! Hope you are staying warm in this weather XTM. Stay safe.
