Lunch

We had a power cut this morning so all the regeneration machines that bring the factory produced meals to life (well, living death) didn't get reset so everyone is having a very late lunch. Except me... I wisely ordered a panino from the staff canteen.

  2. Oh wise one, you did well.

Maybe somebody in the hospital will think of turning the eletric off, in the hope of getting a decent meal.

Regeneration machines, wow!!, sounds like something out of Star Trek, though in Star Trek when the food is regenerated, it looks wholesome and delicious, think I need to get out more.

  3. Regeneration machines - Sounds more Doctor Who than Star Trek! LOL!

You are indeed a wise man ordering Panino!

Hope you are okay today after yesterdays goings on?

    Mmmmm! Lunch time I think!

  4. You know they don't serve lettuce in Aussie hospitals due to some contamination fear ... yet they serve what they do ... bizarre isn't it? Looks like you did OK with the 'panino' ... isn't that simply a toasted sandwich?

  5. Mmmm - is that a delicate drizzle of salad cream across the artfully arranged salad? It does look gd - enjoy, XTM.

  6. It is an Italian toasted sandwich. It's called that so cafes can charge more. As for salad cream... well spotted. Is that a purely British thing or do they have it in Oz?

  7. Hi TM or ETM - I do think salad cream is a very British thing. They used to have in the Netherlands but I think it was discontinued due to lack of interest. The Dutch do like their full-fat mayo, preferably accompanied by mustard and ketchup. If this is loaded onto a plate of chips ('patat'), it's called patatje oorlog (=war). Alternative toppings include satay sauce and curry sauce. Just so you know!

  8. I lived in Germany for a year and was introduced to the chip eating culture although I never could get the hang of the way they stood with their feet apart, body bent over the cardboard tray of chips smothered in mayo and ketchup and then see how quickly the could shovel said chips down their throats using a wooden fork. That used to keep me entertained for hours along with bratwurst watching.

  10. In Au ET We can get Heinz 57 (IIRC) Salad Cream, no ex pat worth their salt would be seen eating salad without some ;)

I think the regeneration machines are in fact replication machines which would make them Red Dwarf ;) And on that note I will tell the people I hate to "Smeg Off" and bid my friends here a good day.

    Regards,

    Kat from Perth.
